The O'Neill Eagles were the 82-48 winner over the West Holt Huskies when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. O'Neill took a 47-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Holt. O'Neill has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, O'Neill still got an impressive performance from Drew Morrow, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Morrow also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Turner Heiss was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four steals.
Even though they lost, O'Neill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Holt only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
West Holt's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lincoln Konrad led the charge by scoring nine points along with ten rebounds and six assists. Konrad is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 11 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Drake Nemetz, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
O'Neill's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for West Holt, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 11-6.
O'Neill will square off against Norfolk Catholic at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Holt, they will face off against Neligh-Oakdale at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Neligh-Oakdale is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
