New Fairfield hasn't had much luck against Brookfield recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Rebels are taking a road trip to face off against the Bobcats at 4:15 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as New Fairfield comes in on three and Brookfield on ten.
New Fairfield barely beat New Milford the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rebels were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Green Wave on Tuesday.
Andrew Dossena made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Dossena was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cooper Benoit was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of New Fairfield's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 5-7 when he doesn't). Nicolas Martini was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
New Fairfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brookfield). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Kolbe-Cathedral a 16-0 shutout on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Brian Barry looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, PJ Colla was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jack Murray, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Brookfield pushed their record up to 15-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for New Fairfield, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
New Fairfield came up short against Brookfield when the teams last played back in April, falling 9-6. Can the Rebels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
