Memorial hasn't had much luck against Pryor recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Chargers will venture away from home to square off against the Tigers at 11:00 a.m.
Memorial is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 18th straight game on Friday. They came up short against Nathan Hale, falling 10-3.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Pryor, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Coweta a 9-0 shutout on Monday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Gavin Roberts made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other pitching news, Chase Johnson looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Brock Ward, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jaron Bailey, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one stolen base.
Pryor pushed their record up to 24-11 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 2-26.
Memorial might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Pryor in their previous matchup back in April of 2019. Can the Chargers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
