Jaiden Burrell was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one triple.
Burrell wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rae' Nelson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base. Morgan Beeker also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Belmont's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for National Trail, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-14.
