The Garinger Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 67-48 to Providence. Garinger has struggled against Providence recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sham Muhammad, who scored 19 points. Rae Bennett was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Garinger dropped their record down to 1-15 with that defeat, which was their 20th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Providence, their victory bumped their record up to 6-12.
Garinger will head out on the road to square off against Butler at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Butler presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Garinger in North Carolina (Butler is ranked 111th, while Garinger is ranked 544th). As for Providence, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Charlotte Catholic at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Charlotte Catholic's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests.
