With a playoff game on the line, the West Lafayette Red Devils rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 44-37 victory over the Bombers. The win was familiar territory for West Lafayette who now have four in a row.
West Lafayette got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Adrianne Tolen out in front who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Tolen has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last ten times she's played. Sarah Werth was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Rensselaer Central's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Taylor Van meter, who scored 13 points along with three blocks and two steals, and Sarah Kaufman who scored six points along with six steals. Van meter hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games.
West Lafayette has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. As for Rensselaer Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-2.
West Lafayette won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Bison at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Benton Central is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games. Rensselaer Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
