Union City has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Iroquois Braves at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Union City made easy work of Reynolds and carried off a 43-22 victory. That looming 43-22 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Union City yet this season.
Even though Iroquois has not done well against Erie First Christian Academy recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Iroquois walked away with a 45-33 win over Erie First Christian Academy. The win made it back-to-back wins for Iroquois.
Iroquois found their leader in underclassman Kellen Burroughs, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds. Those 26 points set a new season-high mark for him. Roman Caporale was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds.
Union City's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-6. As for Iroquois, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Union City took a serious blow against Iroquois in their previous matchup on December 2nd, falling 63-28. Can Union City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
