Basketball Recap: Southwest SD Piles Up the Points Against Mar Vista

There's no place like home for Southwest SD, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They breezed by the Mar Vista Mariners to the tune of 89-50 on Wednesday. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 games by 20 points or more this season.

Southwest SD was led to victory by Khalid Deiranieh and River Diaz. Deiranieh posted 23 points, while Diaz had 21 points. The dominant performance gave Diaz a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Noah Soltero, who scored 11 points.

Several Mariners players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Omar Krenbeh, who went 9 for 15 en route to 18 points and five boards. Krenbeh's evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonan Ceballos, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 13 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

Southwest SD has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29 points. As for Mar Vista, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-10.

Southwest SD will host San Ysidro at 6:30 p.m. on January 29th. Southwest SD is facing San Ysidro at the right time seeing as San Ysidro is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Mar Vista, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 84-61 loss against Bonita Vista on the 27th.
