Baseball Game Preview: Atlantic Coast Stingrays vs. Mandarin Mustangs

The Atlantic Coast Stingrays will take on the Mandarin Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Atlantic Coast is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

Atlantic Coast gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Baldwin with a sharp 12-2 win. The Stingrays might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Kamari Tamaseu was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Selejan, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Tamaseu wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Atlantic Coast kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The Stingrays are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Mandarin had just enough and edged out Fletcher 6-5 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted against the Senators since February 12, 2016.

The team relied heavily on John Brooks, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Mandarin's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-10 when he doesn't).

Mandarin has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Atlantic Coast, their victory bumped their record up to 13-8.

Atlantic Coast beat Mandarin 10-5 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Stingrays since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
