Chavez is a perfect 10-0 against Verdugo Hills since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Eagles will take on the Dons at 3:30 p.m. The last three games Chavez has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Chavez's tournament run continued when they took on Vasquez on Saturday. The Eagles fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 6-4.

Alyssa Anaya was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Nadine Valdez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Verdugo Hills). They never let South Gate get on the board and left with a 21-0 win last Saturday. With that victory, the Dons brought their scoring average up to 7.9 runs per game.
Kaitlyn Barba made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Barba was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Verdugo Hills let Madesyn Meadows and Emily Wagner run wild. Meadows went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Wagner went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Aurora Mares was another key player, going 1-for-2 with five RBI, one triple, and one run.
Verdugo Hills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Chavez has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Verdugo Hills, the win got them back to even at 3-3-1.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Chavez has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .432. However, it's not like Verdugo Hills struggles in that department as they've averaged .436. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Chavez beat Verdugo Hills 6-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Dons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
