Whitewater hasn't had much luck against Jefferson recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Whippets will be playing at home against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Whitewater will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Cambridge on Monday. The Whippets blew past the Bluejays 13-3. With that win, the Whippets brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Paige Kollwelter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to triples, as she's now hit at least one in each of the last four games she's played.
In other batting news, Sydney Schilt was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Falyn Krahn, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Whitewater was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Jefferson entered their tilt with Delavan-Darien on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Comets with a sharp 13-2 victory. With that win, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Like Whitewater, Jefferson also got a great game from a two-way player: Aeryn Messmann. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Messmann was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.
In other batting news, Jefferson got a massive performance out of Hildie Dempsey, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, three doubles, and one RBI. Dempsey continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Bre Mengel was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Jefferson pushed their record up to 17-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Whitewater, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Whitewater hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .334. However, it's not like Jefferson struggles in that department as they've averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Whitewater couldn't quite finish off Jefferson in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Whippets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
