Mount Vernon fell just short of Paideia by a score of 61-58. It was the first time this season that Mount Vernon let down their fans at home.
Mount Vernon's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kj Garris, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds. Garris is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sha'yah Goba, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Mount Vernon's loss ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-9. As for Paideia, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-11 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Vernon will face off against St. Francis at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Francis is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Paideia, they will head out on the road to face off against Atlanta International at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Atlanta International is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
