Softball Game Preview: St. Thomas Aquinas Falcons vs. Holden Rockets

The St. Thomas Aquinas Falcons will head out to take on the Holden Rockets at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. St. Thomas Aquinas is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

St. Thomas Aquinas barely beat Hammond the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Falcons put the hurt on the Tornadoes with a sharp 25-9 win on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Tornadoes: they've now won eight in a row.

Miley Rogers and Rylie Inzinna made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Rogers tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Inzinna struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Rogers has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Rogers scored three runs while going 1-for-5, while Inzinna scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, St. Thomas Aquinas got a massive performance out of Brooklyn Beauchamp, who went 4-for-5 with six RBI, four runs, and three doubles. Beauchamp is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Lylah Madere was another key player, scoring six runs and stealing three bases while going 4-for-6.

St. Thomas Aquinas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 23 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Holden was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 10-6 to Ascension Catholic.

St. Thomas Aquinas' record is now 10-13. As for Holden, their loss dropped their record down to 11-14.

St. Thomas Aquinas might still be hurting after the 16-1 defeat they got from Holden in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
