Eliza Long made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 15 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing Four bases. while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Emily Williams was a standout: she scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyse Sistrunk, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-3.
Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .703. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Good Samaritan HomeSchool entered their tilt with Spurger on Friday with nine consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with ten. They put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 7-1 victory.
Kinley Fife was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 20 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Fife was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Fife wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Abigail Freeman, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Avery Schultz also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Good Samaritan HomeSchool pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 10.43 hits in those games compared to only five in the others. As for Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool, their record now sits at 5-1.
