Grove City has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Upper Arlington Golden Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Grove City is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Golden Bears in Ohio (the Greyhounds are ranked 45th, while the Golden Bears are ranked 168th).
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought match, but Grove City had to settle for a 51-48 defeat against the Panthers.
Despite their defeat, Grove City saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kevin Gallagher, who scored 11 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Reber, who scored 11 points.
Granville typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Upper Arlington proved too difficult a challenge. They were the clear victor by a 64-44 margin over the Blue Aces. The victory was just what Upper Arlington needed coming off of a 53-31 defeat in their prior contest.
Grove City's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-5. As for Upper Arlington, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
Grove City came up short against the Golden Bears in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, falling 65-54. Can Grove City avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
