Fatima had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Centralia Panthers. While the Comets didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-21-3), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Alayna Backes paced Fatima's offense, picking up 12 kills. Backes got some help from Lily Kempker and her 20 assists. Kempker was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.
Fatima's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Centralia, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Fatima wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Southern Boone on the 13th. As for Centralia, they will take on North Callaway at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
