Burlington and Union Grove are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Demons will be playing at home against the Broncos at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Burlington will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Burlington is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against New Berlin West on Tuesday as they made off with a 14-4 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Mason Tomczyk made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trey Kerkhoff, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Burlington: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Carter Behling, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Burlington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Union Grove couldn't beat Burlington on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Broncos came up short against the Demons, falling 12-6. Broncos fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Demons since on Monday.
Matthew Gruber was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Cooper Dye was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Union Grove's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-8. As for Burlington, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.
Burlington's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's match. The Demons have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Union Grove, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Burlington continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Burlington's way against Union Grove in their previous matchup on Monday, as Burlington made off with a 12-6 victory. Will the Demons repeat their success, or do the Broncos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
