Santa Teresa's last matchup with Branham could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Thursday. The Saints lost 15-6 to the Bruins. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.
Savanna Herbst and Izzy Bardelmeier stepped up to the plate in a big way. Herbst scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Bardelmeier went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame entered their tilt with Jefferson on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Grizzlies a 15-0 shutout. With that victory, the Regents brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Molly Rogove and Anya Shah made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Rogove pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Shah tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. At the plate, Rogove scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Shah scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. What's more, Rogove posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kamille Beals, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Sarah Tejeda also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Notre Dame hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive matchups.
Notre Dame's record now sits at 8-6. As for Santa Teresa, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.
Santa Teresa's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Saints have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Notre Dame, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Santa Teresa continue to outrun the ball?
