Rivercrest and Harrisburg are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Rivercrest Colts will head out on the road to take on the Harrisburg Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arkansas (Rivercrest is ranked 125th, while Harrisburg is ranked 139th).
Even though Rivercrest has not done well against Corning recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Rivercrest came out on top against Corning by a score of 64-53. The win was familiar territory for Rivercrest who now have three in a row.
It was another big night for Mykayla Banks, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds and five steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for ten straight games. Another player making a difference was Zakiyah Brownlee, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and seven blocks.
Meanwhile, Harrisburg pushed their score all the way to 55 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Corning by a score of 57-55. Harrisburg's defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Rivercrest's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Harrisburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-6.
Rivercrest beat Harrisburg 42-35 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rivercrest since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
