The Dryden Lions were the 35-20 winner over the Clyde-Savannah Golden Eagles when they last played one another back in September of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Dryden suffered a rough 34-14 loss at the hands of Clyde-Savannah on Friday. Dryden's defeat continues a unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Dryden's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jay Miles, who rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries. Brendan Williams was another key contributor, rushing for 63 yards and a touchdown.
Even if they lost, Dryden's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Leading the way was Aidan Davis and his two sacks.
Leading Clyde-Savannah to victory were Zymere Smith and John Whitfield. Smith rushed for 176 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry, while Whitfield rushed for 149 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Smith is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played. Clyde-Savannah also got help from Aidan Van Duyne who showed off his sure hands for 91 receiving yards.
Dryden's loss was their third straight on the road , which bumped their record down to 5-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.0 points per game. As for Clyde-Savannah, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dryden will take on Deposit-Hancock at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New York (Deposit-Hancock is ranked 413th, while Dryden is ranked 404th). As for Clyde-Savannah, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Whitman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
