Pomperaug has been on the road for two straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Brookfield Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Connecticut (Pomperaug is ranked 64th, while Brookfield is ranked 58th).
Last Monday, Pomperaug was beaten by Kolbe-Cathedral 65-37. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Pomperaug has scored all season.
Even though Brookfield has not done well against Immaculate recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Brookfield managed a 69-64 victory over Immaculate. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
It was another big night for Shane Weber, who scored 46 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. That makes it 17 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Brookfield's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Danny Ciriello, who scored 11 points along with three blocks.
Pomperaug's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Brookfield, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Pomperaug suffered a grim 100-77 defeat to Brookfield in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Pomperaug, Caden Borges (who went 8 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points and 7 assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
