Basketball Recap: Westinghouse Comes Up Short

Westinghouse was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 62-36 to the Crane Medical Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 335th, while the Cougars are ranked 64th).

When it comes to explaining why Westinghouse lost, don't look at Amariyae Ervin. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards. With that strong performance, Ervin is now averaging an impressive 2.3 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Jamilah Jackson, who posted nine points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Westinghouse's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Crane Medical, their win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1.

Westinghouse wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 74-62 defeat against Phillips on the 18th. As for Crane Medical, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-16 victory against Lincoln Park on the 18th.
