The Kennedy Thunderbirds will be playing at home against the Kerman Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Kennedy rose to the challenge on Friday. They blew past Santa Ynez 42-21. The result was nothing new for Kennedy, who have now won seven games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Kennedy found their leader in underclassman Jace Demacabalin, who rushed for 151 yards and three touchdowns. Demacabalin is absolutely dominating the rushing touchdown category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Damian Flores, who rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries.
Meanwhile, Kerman waltzed into Friday's contest with three straight wins but they left with four. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 30-29 win over Golden West.
Kerman's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Adam Delgado, who picked up 110 receiving yards and a touchdown. Adrian Torres was another key contributor, throwing for 155 yards and a touchdown.
The win makes it two in a row for Kennedy and bumps their season record up to 9-2. As for Kerman, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-5.
Kennedy took their win against Kerman in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 by a conclusive 33-7. Does Kennedy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Kerman turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
