Calumet extended the longest winning streak in Western Peninsula this week by beating L'Anse, 26-6. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Copper Kings.
Hancock moved up to 410 from 442 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bulldogs were able to make the jump by beating Wright 19-18.
Northland Pines/Phelps' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Cooper Kerner has thrown for 311 yards and two touchdowns this season, while Sam Lacko has six catches for 210 yards. Austin Ramesh leads the league in rushing with 684 yards.
Two of the top units in Western Peninsula will face off this week when Northland Pines/Phelps takes on the Purple Hornets. The Eagles' offense has recorded 133 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while L'Anse has permitted only 106 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Mark Leaf's team takes on Northland Pines/Phelps. At the moment, the Purple Hornets are in third, while Eric Swanson's team is in first.
