Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask McKeel Academy). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Lake Gibson Braves on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Braves: they've now won nine in a row.
Kaden Howell made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-5. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other pitching news, Cooper Hamilton looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single hits in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Aedan Tompkins, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Those RBI were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Gill, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one double.
