Johnson County Central found their leader in sophomore Sophia Schmid, who had 21 digs and three assists. Those 21 digs set a new season-high mark for Schmid. Another player making a difference was Reese Carter, who had ten digs.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Auburn, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Lourdes Central Catholic 3-2. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Auburn took Lourdes Central Catholic into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-13, 22-25, 18-25, 15-10.
Auburn's victory bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Johnson County Central, their win bumped their record up to 22-0.
Everything went Johnson County Central's way against Auburn in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Johnson County Central made off with a 3-0 victory.
