Hanks is 2-8 against Eastlake since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Hanks Knights will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Eastlake Falcons at 9:00 a.m. Eastlake took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Hanks, who comes in off a win.
Hanks has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 23 points or more this season. They really took it to El Paso for the full four quarters, racking up a 55-28 victory on the road. That's two games straight that Hanks has won by exactly 27 points.
Hanks got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nevaeh Moore out in front who scored eight points along with 14 rebounds and four blocks. Those four blocks set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Daisy Fernandez, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Eastlake was the victim of a rough 52-26 defeat at the hands of Franklin two weeks ago. While losing is never fun, Eastlake can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 825th, while Franklin is ranked 119th).
Hanks has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-11 record this season. As for Eastlake, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.
Hanks ended up a good deal behind Eastlake in their previous matchup back in January of 2020, losing 66-48. Can Hanks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
