The Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes will venture away from home to square off against the Shamokin Area Indians at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Schuylkill Haven is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
While Schuylkill Haven's victory against Marian Catholic wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hurricanes skirted past Marian Catholic 7-5.
Allison Scherer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Teagan Wehr was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. She has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times she's played. Ally Becker was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Schuylkill Haven hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matchups.
Milton hit Shamokin Area with a ten-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Indians came up short against the Black Panthers, falling 16-3. The Indians' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Shamokin Area saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was AVA BONSHOCK, who went 3-for-4 with one double. ELIZABETH NYE also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Shamokin Area's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Schuylkill Haven, their record is now 12-6.
Schuylkill Haven's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's game. The Hurricanes have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Shamokin Area, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Schuylkill Haven continue to outrun the ball?
Schuylkill Haven might still be hurting after the 16-4 defeat they got from Shamokin Area when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Hurricanes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
