While losing is never fun, Mansfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 524th, while McKinney North is ranked 44th).
McKinney North got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaelyn Hamilton out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. The game was Hamilton's 23rd in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryhan Balous, who scored 19 points.
Mansfield's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for McKinney North, their win was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-8.
Mansfield will finish 2023 at home by hosting Lake Dallas at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. McKinney North will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Plano West at 4:30 p.m. on December 27, 2023.
