Millis/Hopedale (Millis, Mass.) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as
Sean Heffernan thew a touchdown to
Tyler Angel with with less than a minute remaining in the third quarter, bringing the team to victory over
Cardinal Spellman (Brockton, Mass.) 25-18.
After taking the lead on a rushing touchdown, the Cardinals went into halftime with a 18-13 lead. The Mohawks took the lead for good with a Heffernan touchdown pass to Angel in the third quarter.
Heffernan played well for Millis/Hopedale in the victory. The junior quarterback threw three touchdowns and ran for one touchdown.
The loss comes after Cardinal Spellman defeated Seekonk 7-3 last week. The victory was a step in the right direction for MH, which was coming off a 21-7 defeat at the hands of Wayland in its previous game.
Cardinal Spellman (1-1) goes up against Nauset Regional in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Millis/Hopedale (1-1) locks horns with Norton in a Tri-Valley - Small game.
