Hanahan has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Gilbert Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Hanahan's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five games.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Hanahan had no problem doing just that on Friday. Everything went their way against Aynor as Hanahan made off with a 41-16 victory.
Kevon Rivera was his usual excellent self, rushing for 236 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 13.1 yards per carry. Rivera is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last seven games he's played.
Meanwhile, Gilbert can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Darlington 49-12 at home. Given Gilbert's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 36th, while Darlington is ranked 134th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hanahan has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Gilbert, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with that victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.
