The Linn-Mar Lions had trouble on Tuesday, and unfortunately for them, their next opponent is a big step up in difficulty. They will take on the Waterloo West Wahawks Friday. Coming off of a loss in a game they were expected to win, Linn-Mar now face the more daunting task of proving themselves against unfavorable odds.
The Lions came up short against Western Dubuque, falling 61-53. If the result catches you off guard, it should: Linn-Mar was the far and away favorite.
Meanwhile, Waterloo faced Dubuque Senior in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Waterloo escaped with a win against Dubuque by the margin of a single free throw, 51-50.
Linn-Mar is now 8-11 while the Wahawks sit at 19-3. Waterloo is 15-3 after wins this year, and the Lions are 4-6 after losses.
