After flying high against the GV Christian Guardians on Wednesday, the Eldorado Sundevils came back down to earth. Eldorado fell just short of Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas by a score of 52-49.
Eldorado lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kamarion Durant, who scored 16 points. The matchup was Durant's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Robert "RJ" Waddell was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lucas Hamilton out in front who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Clinton Ezugha, who scored 14 points.
Eldorado has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.
After both having extra time off, Eldorado and Cristo Rey St. Viator will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon is ranked 66th, while Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas is ranked 71st).
