The Middleton Vikings will challenge the Rocky Mountain Grizzlies at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Middleton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Ridgevue, who was ranked 17th at the time (Middleton was ranked fourth). The Vikings skirted past the Warhawks 11-10. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Warhawks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Kellen Viehweg and Ryan Collins made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Viehweg pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Meanwhile, Collins pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. What's more, Viehweg posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At bat, Viehweg went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Collins scored two runs and stole five bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That triple was Viehweg's first of the season.
