Pontiac has gone a perfect 10-0 against Prairie Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Indians will challenge the Hawks at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Pontiac barely beat Monticello the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Indians never let the Sages get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Sages: they've now won eight in a row.
Elena Krause made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Pontiac let India Mattingly and Olivia Lindsay run wild. Mattingly went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Lindsay went 3-for-4 with four RBI. Those three hits gave Lindsay a new career-high. Kendall Pitchford also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Pontiac always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monticello only posted an OBP of .208.
Meanwhile, Prairie Central won against Paxton-Buckley-Loda on Monday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Everything went the Hawks' way against Lexington as they made off with a 12-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hawks.
Faith Fields was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Fields was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Kate Slagel was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs. Another player making a difference was Kyah Creek, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.
The victory got Prairie Central back to even at 13-13. As for Pontiac, their record now sits at 13-5.
Pontiac was able to grind out a solid win over Prairie Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
