8A District 6 recap September 17, 2013
Riverview's Keisean Young rumbled for the longest rushing play in 8A District 6 this season in his game against Brandon last week. Young scampered for 74 yards on the play and finished with 215 on the day as his team bested the Eagles.
Riverview scaled the state rankings by moving to 326 from 369 this week, the biggest jump in the league. Michael Thornton's team was able to make move up by defeating Brandon 28-21.
Young was a force in the backfield as the Sharks defeated Dean Eychner's team.
Young provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Riverview topped the Eagles.
Tyson Mills was the best wideout in the league this week as Newsome lost to Sickles. Mills racked up 3 receptions for 52 yards.
Young was the best running back in 8A District 6 this week. Teammate Fred McCoy added to the ground attack by rushing for 48 yards.
Colby Brown put up the best numbers through the air as Plant defeated Gaither. He finished with a total of 10 completions for 129 yards and 2 touchdowns. Brown's favorite target this week was Fletcher Barnes, who caught 3 passes for 43 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Brown of the Panthers is the league leader in passing yards this season with 355. He has also thrown 6 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Doug Sandberg. The Bloomingdale star has 12 catches for 210 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Bloomingdale takes on second place Plant.
Two of the top teams in the league will go toe-to-toe this week when Plant takes on Bloomingdale. Robert Weiner's team's offense has scored 92 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Bulls have allowed only 12 on the year.
The Panthers took down the Cowboys 41-8 last week, the largest margin of any game. Brown during the win.
