Baseball Recap: Corona Del Sol Finds Playoff Glory Versus O'connor

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Corona del Sol had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the O'Connor Eagles a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Aztecs, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Corona del Sol got a great performance from Brett Crossland as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Crossland has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ben Jacobus was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Parker Williams, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Corona del Sol's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for O'Connor, their loss dropped their record down to 19-11.

Corona del Sol wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Red Mountain on the 10th. As for O'Connor, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-4 win against Perry on the 8th.
