The Shadow Ridge Mustangs will take on the Centennial Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Shadow Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Shadow Ridge is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over Arbor View. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
Katelynn Quidato spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Madison Foster was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Centennial faced Green Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Gators with a sharp 14-2 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Bulldogs, who have now won four matches in a row.
Lily Fournier tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Centennial got a massive performance out of Hailey Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Campbell Cole, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Centennial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .524. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Centennial pushed their record up to 16-11 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Shadow Ridge, their record now sits at 13-7.
Shadow Ridge couldn't quite finish off Centennial in their previous matchup two weeks ago and fell 6-4. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
