The Green Mountain Rams will challenge the Conifer Lobos at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Green Mountain is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Green Mountain earned a 6-1 victory over D'Evelyn. The win continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won three in a row.
Simon Lunsford spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 12 Ks.
At the plate, DJ Villalovas was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Demetreus Padilla, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Conifer gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Denver East as they made off with a 13-5 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lobos.
The team relied heavily on Andrew Janasiewicz, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Joey Merrion was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run.
Conifer was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Green Mountain's win bumped their record up to 10-4-1. As for Conifer, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
Conifer's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Green Mountain has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. It's a different story for Conifer, though, as they've been averaging 8.8 hits. Given Green Mountain's sizable advantage in that area, the Lobos will need to find a way to close that gap.
Green Mountain took their win against Conifer in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Lobos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
