First Academy has played every game this season on their home court, but they'll have to hit the road on Monday. They will square off against the Appling Christian Academy Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
First Academy managed to keep up with Heritage Christian Academy until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. First Academy was beaten by Heritage Christian Academy 50-14.
Despite their defeat, First Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Rylan Peacock, who scored 6 points, was perhaps the best of all.
Meanwhile, Appling Christian Academy managed to keep up with Grace Christian Academy until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Appling Christian Academy had to suffer through a rough 83-53 loss at the hands of Grace Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, Appling Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 316th, while Grace Christian Academy is ranked 48th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Alex Coursey, who scored 9 points along with 6 rebounds. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaden Drake, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Bible Baptist Christian's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while First Academy's defeat dropped theirs to 0-1.
