Canistota extended the longest winning streak in Cornbelt (9 Man) this week by beating Viborg/Hurley, 64-20. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Hanson suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after a 24-14 loss to Mt. Vernon. The Beavers had been ranked 17th, but fell to 28 following the defeat.
Canistota's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Cody Bunger threw for 30 and one touchdown and Boone Dekramer had 34 yards receiving. On the ground Eric Tieszen chipped in 145 yards. Tieszen helped Canistota's passing attack out by catching one ball for 14 yards.
Canistota's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Hawks feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Bunger has thrown for 414 yards and eight touchdowns this season, while Dekramer has nine catches for 156 yards. Alex Robertson leads the league in rushing with 452 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Howard takes on Hanson. At the moment, the Tigers are in third, while Jim Haskamp's team is in fourth.
Bridgewater/Emery/Ethan and Howard played the most hotly contested game in Cornbelt (9 Man) this week, with Bridgewater/Emery/Ethan eventually emerging with a 28-26 victory.
