Basketball Recap: Union Snags 11th Victory in Last 13 Games

Union had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They managed a 53-48 victory over the Charles Page Sandites on Saturday. That's more bragging rights for the Redhawks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Several Sandites players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Deke Thompson, who posted 18 points and six rebounds. Thompson has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Kooper Kelly was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Union is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.2 points over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Charles Page and nudges their season record down to 20-6.

Coming up, Union will head out to face off against Norman at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Norman will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Union surely won't give up without a fight. Charles Page does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
