Yosemite has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Kennedy Thunderbirds at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Yosemite focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 last Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Yosemite was the victim of a tough 65-42 loss at the hands of Firebaugh. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Yosemite in their matchups with Firebaugh: they've now lost four in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Scott Phillips, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds. He scored a full 33.3% of Yosemite's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Dayton Lee was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with 5 rebounds.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Kennedy beat East Bakersfield 51-45 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Kennedy.
Yosemite now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Kennedy, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
Yosemite suffered a grim 67-44 defeat to Kennedy when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can Yosemite avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
