The Fossil Ridge SaberCats had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They secured a 51-47 W over Rocky Mountain. For Fossil Ridge, this counts as revenge for the 59-58 defeat Rocky Mountain walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Fossil Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Carmen Arkin led the charge by scoring ten points. Another player making a difference was Natalie Lin, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
When it comes to explaining why Rocky Mountain lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sara Chicco. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Meela Delap, who scored 11 points along with four blocks.
Fossil Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for Rocky Mountain, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fossil Ridge will take on Poudre at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rocky Mountain, they will play host again and welcome Mountain Range, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Rocky Mountain is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Colorado (they are ranked 30th, while Mountain Range is ranked 198th).
