Baseball Recap: A+ Charter School Wins Going Away Against Ajo

While A+ Charter School put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Ajo. The A+ Charter School Maricopa put the hurt on the Ajo Red Raiders with a sharp 14-0 win. For the Maricopa, this counts as revenge for the 9-8 victory the Red Raiders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Jose Coronado made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Coronado was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, James Flores and Liam Behnke did most of the damage at the plate: Flores scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3, while Behnke scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Carson De Paola, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

A+ Charter School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ajo only posted an OBP of .176.

The win made it two in a row for A+ Charter School and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Ajo, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, A+ Charter School will head out to face off against Our Lady of Sorrows at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Ajo has already played their next game (against New Way Learning Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
