The Milby Buffs struggled with assists on Thursday (the Jordan Warriors had 22 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Milby was outmatched by Jordan on the road and fell 99-30. While losing is never fun, Milby can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1184th, while Jordan is ranked 81st).
When it comes to explaining why Milby lost, one person who can't be blamed is Darius Owens. Despite the final result, he scored eight points.
Jaden Holt was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with five assists and five steals for Jordan. The game was Holt's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Elijah Black, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Milby has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Jordan, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-4.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Strake Jesuit the next time they take the court. Jordan will head out to face Strake Jesuit at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, while Milby will head out to face them at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.
