The Resurrection Christian Cougars will square off against the Montezuma-Cortez Panthers at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Resurrection Christian comes in on four and Montezuma-Cortez on 13.
Resurrection Christian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Alamosa a 9-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

Vaughn Green was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Colton Barber was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Maddox Sessions, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Resurrection Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Montezuma-Cortez challenged Elizabeth on Saturday. The Panthers came out on top against the Cardinals by a score of 11-6. Montezuma-Cortez's victory was all the more impressive since the Cardinals were averaging only 3.24 runs allowed on the season.
Like Resurrection Christian, Montezuma-Cortez also got a great game from a two-way player: Seth Oakes. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). Oakes was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Darren Daves, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Michael Krupa was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Montezuma-Cortez's win bumped their record up to 21-4. As for Resurrection Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 17-8.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Resurrection Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. However, it's not like Montezuma-Cortez struggles in that department as they've averaged .370. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
