The Traders Point Christian Knights will face off against the Liberty Christian Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Traders Point Christian will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Greenwood Christian Academy on Thursday. The Knights were the clear victors by a 15-8 margin over the Cougars. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won four matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Hailey Roberts was excellent, going 3-for-5 with three runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Armstrong, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three RBI.
Traders Point Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenwood Christian Academy only posted a batting average of .355.
Meanwhile, Liberty Christian hadn't done well against Randolph Southern recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Lions put the hurt on the Rebels with a sharp 16-10 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.
The team relied heavily on Anna Chappell, who went 3-for-5 with six RBI, three runs, and three doubles. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Avari Stanley, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Traders Point Christian now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Liberty Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Traders Point Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .635. However, it's not like Liberty Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .460. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Traders Point Christian's way against Liberty Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2023, as Traders Point Christian made off with a 19-9 win. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
