Salem is 8-1 against Roxana since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Wildcats will venture away from home to take on the Shells at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Saturday, Salem got the win against Lawrenceville by a conclusive 12-1. With that victory, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Salem got a massive performance out of Katee Sellers, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI Sellers has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Jaelyn Keller, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Salem kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lawrenceville only managed three.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Roxana). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Metro-East Lutheran a 21-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Shells have beaten the Knights the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Knights has come to flipping the script.
Kassidy Schuyler made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josie Brannon, who went 2-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. Lilli Ray also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Salem's record is now 6-15. As for Roxana, their record now sits at 13-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Salem hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Roxana struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Salem was able to grind out a solid win over Roxana when the teams last played on Thursday, winning 13-8. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Shells turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
