After flying high against the Greene County Tigers last Thursday, the Aliceville Yellowjackets came back down to earth. Aliceville was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 46-45 to Tuscaloosa Academy. Aliceville was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Tuscaloosa Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Several Yellowjackets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Keanthony Wilder, who scored 18 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wilder has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Tyquan Simon, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Aliceville's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Tuscaloosa Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Aliceville won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Greensboro at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Greensboro is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Tuscaloosa Academy, they will be playing at home against Holy Spirit Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
